Early Bird Yoga

A 60 minute full body warm up that activates the cardiovascular system, invigorates the mind and sends you into the day awake and in a good mood. This Hatha Yoga class is exploratory and fascial. It stimulates the muscle chains and fascial connections three dimensionally in the body. It is less about a posture (asana) to be completed, but more about sensing in the body and the resulting individual movement.

This course is recognised as a prevention course under the heading “stress management” by the statutory health insurance funds.
The course costs are covered up to 100% depending on the health insurance.

Description

Our bodies are tensegrity structures. They have a basic elastic tension due to a myofascial network in which all muscles, organs and bones are held together. Everything in us is wrapped in fascia. These extremely flexible fibers respond to traction and pressure. Made of water and collagen, they are slippery and sensitive. The way we address them in Fascia Yoga (Soulyoga) is therefore sensitive, moving, pulsating. We use the tensile and compressive forces in active stretching. This leads to an unfolding of the spine in its natural double-S shape. The individual vertebrae do not lie on top of each other but float within the elastically pre-tensioned fascia.

I have been an active participant in Annette Münzinger’s Early Bird Yoga for many years. What makes me stick with it so consistently is the careful selection of the body regions to be worked on, which changes from week to week, builds on each other or is sometimes repeated. What I particularly like is that the classes start with very light, soft movements and before you know it you are practising complex sequences. Annette does an excellent job of building up from a gentle warm-up to challenging stretches. The practice from easy to difficult is in constant flow. While in traditional yoga certain postures are assumed, the fascial yoga practice taught by Annette is characterised by a swelling and subsiding, a tensing and relaxing, a pulsation between moving in and out of a posture. This promotes great suppleness in the joints, muscles and fascia and leaves plenty of room for feeling and trying things out. The effect is a noticeably greater freedom in physical and mental mobility. Many thanks Annette.

Yoga classes and workshops with Annet are like an active full-body self-massage – if there is any lurking tension, it is gone afterwards or at least greatly alleviated. During the exercises, I can really feel how muscles and joints connect with each other throughout the body – I can perceive the “fascia”. While many classic yoga exercises tend to promote static stretching, Annet is always about movement. All sorts of places that might have seemed stuck together are loosened and the whole body is straightened. Annet talks about the vertebral snake, not the spine – this is characteristic and a helpful image. After more than 20 years of yoga, I can say that Annet’s very own type of fascia yoga is particularly good for me. It’s also a lot of fun.

At first, yoga with Annet Munzinger was completely new to me and took some getting used to, as I had never practised asanas in this way before. But the feeling afterwards was so phenomenally good that I wanted more of it and overcame the hurdle of unfamiliarity after a few lessons. This particular style of yoga creates noticeably more flexibility in the muscles than conventional yoga due to the dynamic pulsation in the individual asanas. Over time, the body becomes softer and at the same time more elastic, the chest becomes wider. The movements are more playful and flowing, which I personally enjoy. The positive effect on my back: since then I have had significantly fewer problems in my lumbar and thoracic spine. Annet’s excellent knowledge of anatomy and her clear guidance of the movement sequences help her to convey a greater sense of the body and the structural connections between the muscles and fasciae.
